WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN MARIGOT BAY?
Mango Beach guests have three choices to make every day – there’s lots to do right here in Marigot, or, alternatively they can take a taxi, rent a car or hop into a water taxi and explore some of the many fascinating places in St Lucia. The third choice of course is to relax on the beach or by the pool and do nothing at all!
- If you don’t want to travel too far, you can be as active as you like right here in the bay: swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, exploring the bay on a pedalo or a sailing dinghy, or hiking and jogging the many trails to viewpoints around the bay.
- Also, from the bay you can go diving, snorkelling and kayaking further afield with Dive Fair Helen which is based right here, and of course there are local sailboats which can take you anywhere from day cruises to trips to the Grenadines.
- The Marina Village has a lovely cafe surrounded by shops, souvenir cabanas and also a supermarket and bank.
- The Discovery Hotel’s Hurricane Hole bar does lunches and dinners and if you eat there you can also use their huge swimming pool.
- Up in Marigot Village there are a variety of cheap and cheerful shops and restaurants (a ten minute walk)
- Fancy a massage, a facial or a pedicure? The glamorous ‘Lapli’ spa at Discovery uses high end products in a beautiful and sophisticated setting but there’s also Spa Mygo which does everything at very reasonal prices, clean, efficient and well run. And if you really don’t feel like moving from your room or patio, there’s a very nice lady who will come to Mango Beach and provide your treatment without you having to take that tiring two minute boat ride across the bay.
NIGHTLIFE
Lots of different bars and restaurants around the bay provide lunches, dinners, snacks, drinks and ice creams. Three simple dining options at the top of the hill by the plaza, include Julietta’s which has a spectacular view of the bay. Around the edge of the bay itself you will find The Boudreau restaurant and historical Hurricane Hole Bar at Discovery, Chateau Mygo local seafood restaurant on a private dock, the Marina village cafe, JDs on a dock at the far end of the bay (try the jerk chicken!) and of course the beautiful Rainforest Hideaway Fine Dining Restaurant and Champagne Bar. Most of the bars and restaurants have music, especially during the winter: steel pan at JDs, the eclectic West Coast Band at Mygos, Jazz by Emerson and the Empress at Rainforest Hideaway and a mixture of local bands at the other places. Marigot is lively after dark! And on Friday nights there is the famous Fish Friday street party just a few miles down the coast at Anse La Raye.
